ASSOCIATION OF KENYANS LIVING IN BURUNDI( AKB)
The Kenyans living in Burundi organized themselves under an umbrella body- Association of Kenyans Living in Burund (AKB) with the support of the Embassy back in 2008. Kenyans from all sectors who live and work in Burundi as a diaspora took advantage of the newly established embassy which opened its doors in December 2007 to come together and define their common agenda far from home. AKB has organized many functions since then that unite Kenyans; these include but not limited to:
-Football matches with its host (Burundian clubs/associations)
-Charity work and visit to orphanages
-Get togethers (social events)-aimed at fostering social ties of Kenyans in Burundi and a forum for members to share ideas.
-support to Kenyans under distress
AKB exercises and embraces democratic practices by holding elections for its leaders after every one years as per the ASSOCIATIONS CONSTITUTION. The current office bearer is:
