His Excellency Evaristé Ndayishiye, President of the Republic of Burundi and Chair of the East Africa Community, arrived in Kenya on 3rd September to participate in the inaugural Africa Climate Summit, scheduled from 4th to 6th September, 2023 in Nairobi. President Ndayishimiye is among 20 Heads of State Government who will converge in Nairobi to collectively speak in one voice on all matters pertaining to climate change and financing of sustainable programmes to mitigate its effects.
President Ndayishimiye is one of the keynote speakers at the Summit focusing on Africa’s unique position as a bio-diversity rich continent, accounting for a quarter of global biodiversity and possessing vast natural capital. This will shed light on the critical role of governments in promoting conservation, restoration and sustainable use of biodiversity for sustainable development.
