The Republic of Burundi celebrated its 59th independence Anniversary on 1st July, 2021 in Bujumbura Burundi. Hon. Kenneth Lusaka, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Kenya, represented his Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta on this auspicious occasion. As an honour to H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, the Honorable Speaker was given an opportunity to address the public at the celebrations gathering on His Excellency’s behalf and on behalf of the people of the republic of Kenya.
The Hon. Speaker also held a courtesy meeting with H.E. President Evaristé Ndayishimiye, during which the Speaker conveyed to President Ndayishimiye warm greetings and message of good will from H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta, and re-assured him of Kenya’s steadfast support and solidarity towards a stable and prosperous Burundi. H.E President Ndayishimiye appreciated Kenya’s participation noting that Kenya’s high-level representation was a re-affirmation of the two countries’ friendship and solidarity in Burundi’s journey towards stability and sustainable development.
