TRAVEL ADVISORY: EBOLA VIRUS DISEASE (EVD) OUTBREAK IN DRC AND UGANDA

The Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Bujumbura wishes to inform Kenyan citizens, residents, and all travelers that the Ministry of Health of Kenya has issued a travel advisory following reports of an Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak in parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda.

In response, the Government of Kenya has enhanced surveillance and preparedness measures at all points of entry to safeguard public health and prevent the importation and spread of the disease.

Important Information for Travelers

Travelers arriving in Kenya from, or transiting through, the DRC and Uganda are required to:

– Comply with all health screening procedures, including temperature checks at points of entry;
– Complete the Electronic Traveller Health Surveillance Form prior to arrival in Kenya;
– Observe proper hand hygiene practices, including regular handwashing and the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers;
– Follow all public health directives issued by the Ministry of Health and other relevant authorities.

All affected travelers are advised to complete the Electronic Traveller Health Surveillance Form using the QR Code below before arrival in Kenya.

Kenyans living in or visiting Burundi are encouraged to register with the Embassy. This registration helps the Embassy provide assistance in case of emergencies.

Kenyans can enter Burundi visa-free for 180 days. To extend your stay beyond this period, apply for a resident visa at the Immigration Offices before the days expire.

Citizens from East African Partner States, including Burundi, are exempt from the requirement of an Electronic Travel Authorization for a period of six (6) months
