On 11th December 2024, His Excellency Amb. Daniel W. Wambura, CBS, hosted an official reception at the scenic Kiriri Garden Hotel in Bujumbura, Burundi, to mark the 61st Anniversary of Kenya’s Independence.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of H.E. Mr. Sydie Manirerekana, Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation of the Republic of Burundi, who honored the celebration as the chief guest.
The reception brought together representatives from the Government of Burundi, members of the diplomatic corps, international organizations, and the vibrant Kenyan diaspora residing in Burundi. It served as a platform to celebrate the enduring bonds of friendship and cooperation between Kenya and Burundi while reflecting on Kenya’s remarkable journey to independence and development over the past 61 years.
In his speech, H.E. Amb. Wambura highlighted Kenya’s progress, its shared vision for regional integration, and the significance of nurturing bilateral ties. The chief guest, H.E. Mr. Manirerekana, commended the close partnership between Kenya and Burundi, expressing a shared commitment to fostering mutual growth and prosperity within the East African Community.
