On 19th February 2026, H.E. Amb. Henry Wambuma, Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to the Republic of Burundi, formally presented his Letters of Credence to H.E. Évariste Ndayishimiye, President of the Republic of Burundi.
President Ndayishimiye warmly congratulated Ambassador Wambuma on his appointment and officially welcomed him to Burundi. He reaffirmed the strong and cordial relations that exist between Kenya and Burundi, noting that the two nations are cooperating very well across various sectors.
The President assured the Ambassador of his Government’s full cooperation and support as he discharges his diplomatic duties. He further emphasized Burundi’s desire to deepen bilateral collaboration and strengthen people-to-people ties between the citizens of Kenya and Burundi, as a foundation for sustainable regional integration and shared prosperity.
During the audience, President Ndayishimiye highlighted Burundi’s commitment to regional peace, stability, and integration within the East African Community and the African Union framework.
On his part, Ambassador Wambuma expressed deep appreciation for the warm reception and the support extended to him during the presentation of credentials. He conveyed greetings and goodwill from the Government and People of Kenya.
Ambassador Wambuma congratulated Burundi on its accession to the Chairmanship of the African Union, affirming that Kenya looks forward to working closely with Burundi during its tenure to advance Africa’s peace, integration, and development agenda.
The Ambassador concluded by thanking H.E. President Ndayishimiye and the people of Burundi for the warm welcome and reaffirmed his dedication to deepening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two sister nations.
